1. What was the initial inspiration for your self-portrait?
My initial inspiration was soccer since it is my favorite sport, and the color green due to its representation of nature, sports, and the fact that it is also my favorite color.
2. Why did you choose the images that used in your self-portrait?
I chose the images that I used in my self-portrait because I wanted to do something that would present myself and something that I really like to do (being out and playing soccer). Further, the fact that I used a photo of myself as a guide was also an influencing factor for my choice of images to some extent. For example, I looked for and re-sized some soccer balls to place in where my eyes were positioned in the original photo.
3. What was your plan of attack in terms of the layout/composition of your self-portrait?
My plan was to place myself somewhere in the middle of the page, and have a background composed of my favorite sport, so I decided to look for at least two different images of a soccer field to use as the background. Particularly images of soccer fields with depth and soccer goals in them as they would then add depth to my self-portrait, and give it a more complete look... to balance and/or compensate for the simplicity of the figure in the front and center of the page.
4. In retrospect, what would you change about your self-portrait to make it even more successful?I think I would add more images. Particularly small ones on the shirt of the figure to try to make the shirt and the figure itself stand out more. I would probably darken the hair and maybe give some color to the face by using some images there as well rather than keeping the face transparent. Basically, I would probably try to make the figure stand out more.
