Street Art Project

What I wanted to do for my first street art image/project was something relating to soccer. Further, the idea or concept here is obviously a player or some individual being told to "get out" as their actions are out of line. And the card represents this command, which is why I decided to have the text "get out" in the card rather than outside. Additionally, I decided to have a background with color so that the main figure would stand out more as its the only part of the image that has no color.

For my second street art image/project I wanted to do something relating to racing and time. The concept or message in this one is just as the text suggests, in other words, "to not lose the race against time." Basically, it shows how people are often in a race with time... be it when it comes to completing a particular assignment in due time, completing a race under a certain time, or arriving at a particular place in time (not arriving late to a meeting, for example) etc.... Additionally, I think that the combination of a clock with a racing track and a racing car manages to represent the concept of racing against time well enough, hence why I chose those particular images.

Exit Through the gift shop

I think that the overall message of the film was that one should follow their dreams or goals.

I think the film was titled Exit Through the The Gift Shop because of the "gift" that the street artists give to the people with their art, thus the film is sort of like a passageway, place, or room that shows us or introduces to us the street art and some of the artists themselves from different places around the world, and as the film ends...we are essentially "exiting" the shop.

I think that Banksy was the most conceptually rich artist shown in the film. Not only was he shown at the start of the film as this mysterious figure, but he was also kept as a mysterious figure who was nearly impossible for French camera-man Thierry to find for his documentary on street art. Furthermore, Banksy was also portrayed as a very important and renowned British figure in the street arts despite his mysteriousness, and even a big event/exhibition with him was set up and shown. Another thing that makes him quite relevant is the fact that Banksy was the one who suggested to Thierry to leave aside the camara and actually try life as a street artist himself--which eventually led to Thierry becoming quite famous and successful as Mister Brain Wash.

Finally, I think that street-art/graffiti is a pretty interesting form of art that often, if not always, shows emotion and/or expression as well as creativity from the artist; however, I do believe that it is a form of art that should still be regulated by authorities because if is something that could get too out of hand and become a problem. In other words, I think it is good with moderation. Besides, it it became legal... then it really wouldn't be the same because it would likely remove the mysteriousness aspect of it from and for many artists and street works of art.
